Marc-André Blanchard, the chief of staff to Prime Minister Mark Carney , defended his boss’s ethics screen to MPs Thursday, calling it one of the most rigorous he’s seen.
Mr. Blanchard, who has previously been the head of the McCarthy Tétrault law firm and Canada’s ambassador to the United Nations, testified to the House Ethics Committee the day after Privy Council Clerk Michael Sabia. The two administer Mr. Carney’s screen, and spoke to the committee because it is studying the Conflict of Interest Act.
