MAYVILLE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A heart-warming moment on the field at the WIAA State Football Championships for Mayville High School.
“It just shows you who we are, we are tough," said Mayville School District Superintendent Scott Sabol.
The Cardinals finished strong scoring 42-32 against the Northwestern Tigers, securing the Division 5 State Championship title.
It was an emotional win for Mayville, because for them the win is about more than just football, it’s about their community and resilience.
Back in May, Mayville was hit hard by a tornado, tearing the city apart. It left businesses and homes destroyed.
