Saturday won’t be remotely what Drew Allar envisioned a year ago.

Senior day for the Penn State quarterback was supposed to be a celebration of a decorated career, ahead of an opportunity to lock down a second straight trip to the College Football Playoff.

Instead, Allar will need to use crutches to make his final walk out of the tunnel at Beaver Stadium. When he gets to midfield, the coach who recruited him and installed him as a three-year starter won’t be there to greet him.

Everything changed on Oct. 11 in the same stadium. Allar was trying to prevent the Nittany Lions from hitting an unthinkable three-game losing streak when he went down in the fourth quarter against Northwestern.
