It all came to a bitter end.

The West Virginia women’s soccer team saw its season come to a crushing conclusion with a loss on kicks from the mark at Georgetown on Thursday in the second round of the NCAA tournament in Washington.

West Virginia jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Ajanse Respass took a low cross from Taylor White and banged it into the net 2:27 into the match. The Hoyas knotted the contest at 1-1 midway through the first half on a goal by Lizzie Heller.

Neither club scored in the remainder of the first half … or throughout the second … or through overtime session No. 1 … and then overtime session No. 2.
