GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) — Shoppers are filling Nebraska streets to shop for loved ones, including downtown Hastings for Celebration of Lights and downtown Grand Island for Railside Christmas.

Nebraska saw a 4.1% increase in local shopping in 2024, according to Capital One Shopping Review, and Grand Island business owners hope to keep that momentum going this year.

Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation and Chamber of Commerce want residents to shop local. They say every purchase strengthens the community, creates jobs and fuels local growth.

“Shopping local does keep vital funds in the community,” said Jessica Salinas, marketing director for the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce.
