HOUSTON — Thursday Night Football had a brief pause for an injury, but it wasn't a player who was hurt.
Referee Adrian Hill was carted off the field during the Houston Texans home game against the Buffalo Bills.
He was jogging in the endzone, watching the Bills kick with about 7:36 in the third quarter. He was seen hopping on one foot and grabbing his left leg. He did not make contact with a player. He wasn’t putting any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the field by two Texans staff members.
Hill got to the sideline, where a Texans trainer accompanied him to the locker room.
Roy Ellison, umpire, took over as referee and they eliminated the umpire officiating position for the rest of the game.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
