BATTLE CREEK – The Bloomfield Hills volleyball team has been sitting right near the top of the Division 1 state rankings all year.

But, the Black Hawks were looking up at top-ranked Rockford most of the year, as the Rams held down the No. 1 spot thanks to losing just one game throughout the season.

Bloomfield Hills even got a crack at Rockford late in the year, but lost two of three sets to them. Still, that little success gave the Black Hawks all they needed to know about a potential rematch.

That rematch came on Thursday in the Division 1 semifinal at Kellogg Arena, and the second-ranked Black Hawks made the most of it, besting the Rams 25-19, 22-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-13.
