In a brazen daylight robbery, a group of five to six miscreants posing as RBI officials looted ₹7.1 crore from an armoured cash van in Bengaluru on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred between 12:30 pm and 1 pm when the van, owned by CMS Info Systems, was transporting cash from HDFC Bank in JP Nagar to HBR Layout.
The thieves, who were in three vehicles, including an MUV and two hatchbacks, blocked the cash van near the Ashoka Pillar and claimed to be RBI officials. They convinced the van's occupants that there was a complaint against their firm for violating RBI guidelines and asked them to go to the police station to record statements.
