Eyewitnesses in Guwahati, Shillong, and other northeastern cities reported feeling light shaking
Tremors were felt across Assam and other Northeastern states on Friday morning after an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Bangladesh at 10:08:26 IST.
The tremors, which lasted only a few seconds, were also felt in Kolkata, causing brief panic among residents who rushed out of their homes and offices.
According to data issued by the National Seismological Centre, the epicentre of the quake was at 23.77°N latitude and 90.51°E longitude in Bangladesh, at a depth of 10 km. The epicentre was situated in Narsingdi, about 50 km from Dhaka.
