“No Place Like Home” is Elphaba’s new song in Wicked: For Good and Cynthia Erivo has opened about about the meaning of the track.
The song nods to The Wizard of Oz , using the words that Dorothy echoes throughout the movie.
Elphaba sings the song near the beginning of the movie while trying to encourage the animals of Oz to stay and fight with her instead of going to the No Man’s Land.
“She has to question why she wants to continue to save Oz, or save the animals in it, even though this place doesn’t necessarily want her,” Cynthia told Empire . “It is a discovery as to why she can continue. That is where the story gets started for her.”
