The White House appears to be considering an executive order that would preempt laws in Colorado and other states regulating artificial intelligence, based on a draft version of the order obtained by The Daily Sentinel.
While an official policy move has yet to be announced, President Donald Trump appeared ready to back the effort in a Truth Social post Tuesday afternoon, saying states had over-regulated AI to the point of undermining economic growth.
“Some States are even trying to embed DEI ideology into AI models, producing ‘Woke AI,’” the president wrote. “We MUST have one Federal Standard instead of a patchwork of 50 State Regulatory Regimes. If we don’t, then China will easily catch us in the AI race.”
