An expansive airport, once utilised by the Nazis before being deserted, has undergone a remarkable transformation and is now unrecognisable.
Originally constructed in the 1920s in Berlin, Tempelhof Airport was redesigned in the following decade to showcase the might of the Third Reich. The enormous, crescent-shaped terminal remains one of the world's largest single-roof structures, an impressive 1.2km in length.
Following the Second World War, it became a beacon of hope. During the Berlin Blockade of 1948–49, when the Soviet Union attempted to force the Western Allies to relinquish control of the city, Tempelhof served as a vital lifeline - with Allied aircraft delivering supplies during the Berlin Airlift.
