BBC Breakfast hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt paid their condolences to guest Lobby Akinnola, who lost his father five years ago to Covid .

During the heartbreaking interview, Lobby explained that his mother discovered that his father had died overnight after contracting the virus back in 2020.

Before speaking with their guest via video link, Charlie began, "Families who lost loved ones during the pandemic say they feel let down by the UK Government following an inquiry into its handling of COVID -19."

Naga continued, "The report found that 1000s of deaths in England could have been avoided if a lockdown had been imposed just a week earlier. In the northeast, nearly 10,000 people died from the disease."
