New Delhi, Nov 21: The Union government on Friday notified the implementation of the long-pending four Labour Codes, passed by Parliament in 2020, marking a major overhaul of India’s labour framework.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, announcing the move on X, described the rollout as “one of the most comprehensive and progressive labour-oriented reforms since Independence”. He said the new codes would “greatly empower workers” while easing compliance and promoting ‘Ease of Doing Business’. “Shramev Jayate!” he added.
