A recent burst of sunshine has carpeted Perth streets with violet petals, painting the city in spring’s most vibrant colours as the jacarandas reach full bloom.
Applecross locals, drawn to the suburb for its iconic jacarandas, are soaking up the purple-hued spectacle.
Prem Malhi, 34, has lived on various Applecross streets for more than 10 years and chose his current home on Gairloch Street solely for its beautiful jacarandas-line streetscape.
“It’s a beautiful tree-lined suburb,” Mr Malhi said.
“These jacarandas are the main, well one of the main reasons, we chose this street.
“A lot of the new suburbs these days don’t have enough greenery and I really wanted that suburban vibe the jacaranda gives.”
