The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, on Friday approved the proposal to establish Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC) to maintain transparency and prevent irregularities in the recruitment of uniformed personnel, including police, in the state.

It may be recalled here that the State Government faced widespread criticism after the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination scam surfaced, leaving the job aspirants high and dry.

“Recruitment for various ranks in the Odisha Police and other uniformed services is currently being conducted through different departmental boards, which has resulted in abnormal delays and irregularities in the examination”, a statement issued by the government said.
