LAFAYETTE, Ind. — An investigation is underway after police officers fatally shot a 50-year-old man at a Lafayette apartment complex early Friday.
The incident began around 12:30 a.m. Nov. 21 when a Lafayette Police Department officer pulled over a car near South Street and Sagamore Parkway on suspicion of impaired driving.
"During the stop, the male driver made statements indicating a risk of harm to himself before fleeing the scene in his vehicle," Lafayette PD said in a statement. "LPD officers, following departmental policy, did not initiate a vehicle pursuit."
Roughly 45 minutes later, officers saw the car on Frontage Road. The male – later identified by the Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office as 50-year-old Rodolfo Requenes Jr., of Lafayette – drove to the Waterford Court Apartme
