All eastbound lanes of State Road 836 have reopened Friday after an early-morning crane malfunction forced a full shutdown at NW 17th Avenue, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
Crews have cleared the scene, but officials warn that delays may continue as traffic gradually returns to normal. Drivers are urged to use caution and allow additional travel time while conditions improve.
The incident began early Friday when an unexpected mechanical failure involving a crane led to the emergency closure of all eastbound lanes of S.R. 836, also known as the Dolphin Expressway , at NW 17th Avenue. The issue also prompted the closure of a westbound left lane from I-95 to just west of NW 12th Avenue.
FDOT said crews worked through the morning to safely remove a precast cap
