Thanksgiving will be different this year.
It’s actually different every year, we just don’t notice.
We pack the day full of traditions, which on this blessed day, feels like joy on repeat.
I love all the traditions of the day:
We wake up and watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and savor the Rockettes, the marching bands, Snoopy and Woodstock. We’re dazzled by performers we’ve never heard of and Broadway numbers we’ve never seen. I always watch until the end to wave at Santa.
After that, we watch The National Dog Show and root for the weird looking pooches.
We cook the same meal: turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, sweet potatoes and rolls. Some years, we add noodle kugel or mac and cheese.
What changes is who sits around the table.
