A 22-year-old man, wanted for murder in India, has been arrested by US border authorities after being denied entry to Canada. Vishat Kumar has an Interpol Red Notice against him and has been living in the US illegally since last year.

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said Kumar, who was concealing his identity, was arrested at the Port of Buffalo, Peace Bridge border crossing.

Kumar had entered the US illegally in 2024 and didn't attend a scheduled asylum interview.

During a second inspection, CBP officers discovered he was hiding his real identity. Biometric technology confirmed his true identity, showing he had used a false name and date of birth.

Further investigation uncovered an Interpol Red Notice against him, linking him to a murder case in India.
