Labour laws passed by Parliament in 2020 come into effect

The long pending four Labour laws , that were passed by Parliament in 2020 , were enforced from on Friday (November 21, 2025).

“Today, our Government has given effect to the Four Labour Codes. It is one of the most comprehensive and progressive labour-oriented reforms since Independence. It greatly empowers our workers. It also significantly simplifies compliance and promotes ‘Ease of Doing Business,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a post on X.

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in his X post said “From today, the new labour codes have been implemented in the country.”

Mr. Mandaviya added “Modi government’s guarantee is dignity for every worker!”

His X post further said “ These reforms are not just ordinary changes , but a major step taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi fo
