GRANT COUNY, Wis. — A Dickeyville man shot himself with a crossbow on Monday, then crashed his vehicle driving himself to a hospital, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At about 6:10 a.m., a 911 caller reported a crash at 6742 Highway 35 /81, just west of Lancaster in the town of South Lancaster. The caller said a vehicle had left the highway and was in their tree-line about a quarter-mile off the road, near their house, Sheriff Craig Reukauf said in a statement Thursday.
While emergency responders were heading to the scene, the caller also reported that the person who crashed had been driving himself to Grant Regional Health Center in his 2018 Chevrolet Colorado when he passed out after having been struck in the ankle with an arrow
