COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said they have been requested to investigate a shooting involving an officer in DeKalb County on Friday morning.

According to the DeKalb County Police Department, officers were called to the 7900 block of Errol Drive in reference to a hostage situation at around 5:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, shots were fired after officers encountered the suspect. Police said the suspect sustained a gunshot wound during the exchange and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but no officer was injured.
