In 1934, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip met for the first time at the wedding of Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark to Prince George, Duke of Kent. Years later, the two would fall in love and exchange vows at Westminster Abbey on Nov. 20, 1947, before welcoming their first child, Prince Charles, a year later. The couple had four children, eight grandchildren, and 73 years together, the longest royal union in British monarchy history.
