It’s a gross Friday morning for a large portion of Alberta today, with the risk of freezing rain and strong wind gusts in the forecast.
Freezing rain warnings and wind warnings were issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for a wide swath of Alberta, with the federal weather agency noting that the freezing rain will move into Saskatchewan, tapering off as we roll into the evening hours.
Forecasters added that roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery, and to be very careful if walking or driving. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
