Fans of an iconic rock singer have expressed their support as she navigates a difficult time.

The singer revealed that she recently lost her father via social media post.

Vocalist Shirley Manson broke the news of her father’s — Dr. John Mitchell Manson’s — death via a post published to Garbage’s official Instagram page on Thursday.

One of the pictures included in the post states that Manson died on October 3rd at the age of 88. An obituary explains that he passed away at Trinity House Care Home in the family’s native Edinburgh, Scotland.

“My daddy will finally be reunited with my beloved mother in the afterlife today,” the post reads . “Their bones mingle together under Scottish soil, their earthly bodies transform into stardust for all eternity.
