GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - True freshman quarterback Deuce Knight will start Saturday against Mercer, making him the first true freshman to start for Auburn since Bo Nix in 2019.

The George County alum has appeared in just one game this season, completing two passes for 20 yards and running for an additional 16 yards in the Tigers’ week 2 win over Ball State.

Earlier in the week, interim head coach D.J. Durkin announced that Ashton Daniels will sit out this week’s game to preserve his redshirt.

Durkin also said both Knight and Jackson Arnold are expected to see game time this weekend.

The game against Mercer kicks off at 1 p.m. at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn on Saturday.
