Another independent MP has just quit Jeremy Corbyn’s Your Party as the chaos within the fledging group deepens.
Iqbal Mohamed announced on Friday that he was quitting the new party, and would return to “serving as I was elected as an independent member of parliament for Dewsbury & Batley.”
Mohamed cited the “many false allegations and smears made against me and others”, which he claimed have been “reported as fact without evidence”.
“I am confident that my colleagues and I have acted professionally, patiently and in good faith throughout,” he added.
He insisted that he still hoped Your Party would continue to be a “genuine, inclusive force for positive change”, and said he would continue working with his colleagues in the Independent Alliance.
