Penticton city council agrees that it’s finally time to replace the Jumbotron at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

During budget deliberations on Wednesday, general manager of community services Kelsey Johnson explained how much things have changed since the existing Jumbotron was purchased in 2008.

“The technology we currently have in place is largely obsolete and susceptible to failure, with many of the components no longer available,” Johnson said.

“If you’ve been to a recent game, you may see there are some black spots. We can’t correct those. And as we continue on, we’re going to see those failures more and more,” she said.
