Remember the famous quip “there you go again” by candidate Ronald Reagan in the 1980 televised presidential debate with President Jimmy Carter? He gave that memorable response in a calm and respectful manner to suggest that Carter was just repeating a misleading and exaggerated argument that inaccurately portrayed Reagan’s position on Medicare.

Of course, being a former actor, Reagan was a master of timing, and he used the line to defuse his opponent’s attack.
