Former "Real Housewives" star Jen Shah, who's been incarcerated since 2023 following her conviction on wire fraud, will be released from prison early, according to a new report.
Shah, who's been held in custody at the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, is set to be released on Dec. 10 after the TV personality was originally issued a six-and-a-half-year sentence, Shah's manager, Chris Giovanni, confirmed to People magazine in a statement released Friday, Nov. 21. Shah would have been released on Aug. 30, 2029, under the original sentence, per People and E! News.
"Everyone's very grateful for the [Federal Bureau of Prisons'] decision, especially because it means Jen will be able to reunite with her family for the holidays," Giovanni told the magazine. "It's a gift she doesn't take for granted."
In a statement to USA TODAY, the Federal Bureau of Prisons declined to comment on Shah's updated release date but said she currently has a projected release date of Aug. 30, 2026.
USA TODAY has reached out to Giovanni for comment.
Shah's prison sentence has reportedly been reduced several times since she began serving time in February 2023, including as recently as January. People and E! News reported at the time that Shah's original 2029 release date was moved up to Nov. 3, 2026.
Shah, who starred on Bravo's "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" from 2020-2023, pleaded guilty in July 2022 to defrauding people in a nationwide telemarketing scheme. The TV personality, 52, entered the plea to a single count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud after signing a plea agreement with prosecutors that carried a recommended sentencing range of 11 to 14 years behind bars.
Shah told a judge that she took part in the telemarketing fraud for nearly a decade, beginning in 2012, which prosecutors said cheated thousands of people, including some over age 55. She said she knew she was teaming up with others to market products "that had little or no value."
"I knew this was wrong and that many people were harmed, and I'm so sorry," Shah told Judge Sidney H. Stein at the time.
Jen Shah is 'not the same woman' after prison time, rep says
Following her 2022 conviction, Shah was sentenced to 78 months, or six-and-a-half years in prison in January 2023, according to People magazine and The Salt Lake Tribune. She pledged to pay $6.5 million in restitution and forfeiture when she is released.
"Jen Shah deeply regrets the mistakes that she has made and is profoundly sorry to the people she has hurt," Shah's attorney, Priya Chaudhry, told People at the time of her sentencing. "Jen has faith in our justice system, understands that anyone who breaks the law will be punished, and accepts this sentence as just. Jen will pay her debt to society and when she is a free woman again, she vows to pay her debt to the victims harmed by her mistakes."
Despite her legal troubles, Shah is in a "really positive, hopeful place mentally," Shah's manager told People magazine in a Nov. 21 statement.
"She's done a lot of reflecting and real growth during her time away and is genuinely not the same woman as she was before," Giovanni continued. "Her focus is on her family and building a healthier, more grounded life.
"She understands the seriousness of the mistakes she made and is excited to put this chapter behind her so that she can show everyone the woman she's worked hard to become."
