CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- Carbondale Police responded to a shooting report on November 21, at around 2:50 a.m. in the 500 block of South Graham Street.

Police said a 911 caller reported an attack inside their home by an acquaintance armed with a firearm. Carbondale police said the victim defended themselves by firing at the suspect, resulting in the 17-year-old suspect being shot twice and wounded.

The suspect was initially taken to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and later transferred to an out-of-state hospital, where they remain in stable condition. The victim was reported with minor injuries which authorities said did not require medical attention.

Police arrested a second juvenile suspect on charges including armed robbery and unlawful use of a weapon. Police said this suspect
