NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - The Atwater Senior Center distributed Thanksgiving meals on Friday to ensure community members have holiday dinners.
The distribution included turkey, chicken, ham and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner.
The event began with Spanish singalongs and Christmas carols before the food giveaway.
Luidez Rivera, who visits the senior center at least once a week, said she enjoys the activities and friendships there.
“We do a lot of stuff here I like it here. We do yoga, dancing. Zumba. We do crafts,” Rivera said. “A lot of good friends here.”
Volunteer Adelaida Torres, who was handing out stuffing and also receiving food from the pantry, said the distribution helps families struggling to put food on the table.
