BENGALURU: The Bengaluru roads are set to get a layer of asphalt, with the government giving the green signal. The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is planning to invite tenders for about 500 km of single‑layer asphalt work, with a budget of Rs 1,200 crore.

Potholes on roads have become a major problem, and despite the GBA’s deadlines, filling the potholes hasn’t been completed. Meanwhile, last month during the ‘White Topping’ inauguration in the Gandhinagar constituency, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah instructed the Urban Development Department’s Additional Chief Secretary Tushar Giri Nath and GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao to lay a single layer of asphalting.
