For Olivia Munn, Princess Kate is the queen of keeping it real.

Munn, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, opened up about how the British royal inspired her health journey during an appearance on the "Today" show Wednesday, Nov. 19. Princess Kate revealed in March 2024 that she was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer and was undergoing "a course of preventive chemotherapy treatment" after having major abdominal surgery.

"It really made me feel so comforted that someone in her position was talking about it because I needed to hear that," Munn, 45, told "Today" host Jenna Bush Hager and guest Michaela Del Barrio, who is battling breast cancer. "I needed someone to articulate that."

The Princess of Wales, 43, completed her treatment in September 2024, Kate shared in a video posted to social media at the time. In January, she announced her cancer was in remission after an appearance at the hospital where she was treated.

Princess Kate opened up about the emotional rollercoaster of her cancer journey during a July 2 visit to Colchester Hospital in Essex, southeast England.

"You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment's done, then it's like, 'I can crack on, get back to normal,' but actually the phase afterwards is really, really difficult," Kate said at the time. "And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable."

Olivia Munn praises Princess Kate's candor about cancer journey

Munn first shared news of her breast cancer diagnosis in a March 2024 Instagram post. At the time, she said she would not have received her diagnosis for another year had her doctor not decided to calculate her breast cancer risk assessment score.

"I hope by sharing this it will help others find comfort, inspiration and support on their own journey," Munn wrote.

The "Your Friends & Neighbors" star gave an update on her cancer battle at Time's Women of the Year gala in February, sharing that she still has "years to go in my cancer treatment."

During her "Today" show appearance, Munn shared that Princess Kate's candor about her health offered some solace in her own cancer journey.

"It was so great to hear her say it because I wasn't able to put the words in myself, and I've been talking so much about breast cancer," Munn said. "The first part is hard, but a lot of people don't talk about how hard the second part is.

She added: "I actually didn't know how to articulate it, and then I heard her say recently that, 'Oh, it's hard, but this other part is really tough. The part after the surgeries and stuff like that.'"
