An AI toymaker has suspended the sales of one of its teddy bears after researchers discovered it could give kids BDSM sex advice and tell them where to find dangerous objects such as knives.
FoloToy, a Shanghai-based startup that produces a line of AI-powered plush toys, has pulled the plug on sales for a teddy bear on its site called Kumma after researchers found the toy’s disturbing and potentially dangerous capabilities.
The stuffed animal “combines advanced artificial intelligence with friendly, interactive features,” and can engage in “lively conversations” as well as provide “educational storytelling, according to FoloToy’s website .
