WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Eugene Vindman, D-Va., reiterated Friday his demand that President Donald Trump release the transcript of his 2019 phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Saying the call demonstrated a quid pro quo agreement “where there was an offer of something and in exchange the president got something in return,” Vindman said he is calling for transparency and accountability on behalf of the American people and the family of slain Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

During an Oval Office meeting with Prince Mohammad earlier this week, Trump described the late journalist as “extremely controversial,” adding “things happen,” when asked about Khashoggi’s murder, Trump said the crown prince “knew nothing” about it, contradicting U.S. intelligence findings
