Srinagar: Security forces foiled a potential terror plot on Friday after a cache of arms and ammunition including two M4 assault rifles was recovered from a hideout near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.
“Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation was launched by Handwara Police and the Naugam brigade of the Indian Army in the Neeriyan Forest area along the LoC,” a police officer said.
During the operation, the team busted a major hideout, leading to the seizure of two M-series rifles with four magazines, two Chinese pistols with three magazines, two hand grenades and several live rounds.
An FIR under number 39/2025 has been registered at Police Station Qalamabad, and further investigations are underway.
