SDG economic development officer Tara Kirkpatrick told council that in September, SDG, with the support of the Great River Ontario Health Team, applied to the Rural Ontario Development Program (ROD).
The partnership aims to launch the Great River, Great Future — Rural Healthcare Workforce Recruitment Initiative, and if successful, the partnership will be eligible to receive up to $136,000 over a two-year period to be spent towards medical-recruitment efforts. A report to council said that funds and in-kind support from the 2025 economic development special projects budget were contributed to the application, as well as monetary and/or in-kind contributions from various partners, ranging from $500 to $40,000.
