FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — Fairfield County authorities are warning residents to be wary of unexpected visits from strangers following reports of someone going door-to-door in at least one neighborhood.
The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office urged residents in the South Winnsboro area to take precautions due to an unconfirmed report of a man going door-to-door claiming to work for a major company.
While the sheriff's office stressed that the information they'd received hadn't yet been verified, they wanted the community to follow a few rules to remain safe from potential crimes or scams.
Officials said people who show up without being scheduled for a visit should be seen as "a major red flag."
