FAYETTEVILLE -- Fayetteville High School students will host their annual Homeless Vigil on Dec. 11.

Students participating in the event will camp out in temporary shelters on Bulldog Boulevard from 5-11 p.m., accepting cash and nonperishable food donations to support classmates and their families who are unhoused. All proceeds go toward the district's Families in Transition program.

School Board President Tim Hudson usually attends the event but will be out of town this year. He said he wanted to lend his support by finding a creative way to drive interest in the Homeless Vigil and help students reach their fundraising goal.
