LAUREL — Jones County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Wednesday afternoon after a ground search in the Anderson Street area.
Deputies took Zhivago Bell, 44, into custody on Palmer Road after receiving a tip that he was at an abandoned house east of the Magnolia Center, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department. Bell was wanted on a bench warrant stemming from a possession of cocaine charge and a separate warrant for theft of rental property.
Deputies Davy Keith and Zachary Strickland arrived at the residence and learned from a nearby resident that Bell had fled behind the house. A wider search followed, involving Sgt. Brandon Gregory, Cpl. Jarone’ Walker, and Deputies Dalton Ainsworth and William Ladd.
