HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A family has filed a lawsuit against Horry County School District after an alleged sexual assault.

The parents of a pre-k student at St. James Elementary say their daughter was sexually assaulted in a school bathroom back during 2024-2025 school year.

According to the lawsuit, the daughter began having accidents at school and was taken to the doctor for pain in her stomach and private area.

Documents state that, in March, she came home from school injured with blood in her underwear and said a student inappropriately touched her.

The parents reportedly emailed the school and went in person the next morning.
