CHIPPEWA COUNTY — Jacob Bergum, 34, of Drummond Island, has been arrested for child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime, according to the Michigan State Police.
The arrest follows an investigation initiated by the Michigan Department of Corrections after Bergum was found viewing files of child sexually abusive material online. Digital evidence was seized from his electronic device, leading to charges of five counts of child sexually abusive activity – aggravated, and one count of using a computer to commit a crime.
Bergum was served with a Habitual Offender – 4th Offense Notice, which could increase his penalties if convicted. He has been arraigned in the 91st District Court of Chippewa County, with his bond set at $250,000 cash and additional conditions. Ber
