SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Local nonprofits are providing holiday assistance this Thanksgiving week. They are offering free turkeys, side-dish kits, and hot meals for families in need.

Second Chance Last Opportunity will distribute frozen turkeys on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at 2727 Veronica H. Allen in Sarasota. Only people who registered and received tickets for the warm‑coat giveaway may pick up turkeys. Supplies are limited.

The Taggart Family Foundation will host a Thanksgiving giveaway on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Middle School, 305 17th St. E., Palmetto. The event will provide free turkeys and side-dish kits for families. Hot meals will be served on site. Distribution is first-come, first-served while food lasts.
