Former CIA officer and whistleblower John Kiriakou has reignited debate with a blunt retelling of how he rejected an apology demanded by Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Speaking on the Julian Dorey Podcast, he described receiving death threats and a wave of online abuse after predicting Pakistan’s defeat in any conventional conflict with India.
Interview that sparked the backlash
Kiriakou traced the controversy to an interview he gave to ANI about a month earlier. Drawing on his experience as the CIA’s former chief of counterterrorism operations in Pakistan after 9/11, he said renewed hostilities between India and Pakistan would bring “nothing positive”.
