DOVER — Closing arguments were heard Nov. 21 in the trial of Paul Clement , who is charged with driving drunk and fatally striking Brig. Gen. John Pogorek with his car in Rochester, driving away without stopping.
Judge John Curran gave instructions to the jury about 3:30 p.m. leaving jurors little time to begin deliberations before Strafford County Superior Court closed at 4 p.m. They will resume Monday, Nov. 24.
Pogorek, who was commander of the New Hampshire Air National Guard at Pease, was 57 and a Strafford resident. He is survived by his wife, Whitney, and their five children.
Clement, 82, is charged with Class A negligent homicide and Class B conduct after an accident, both felonies, for failing to stop after striking Pogorek. He is also charged with driving under the influen
