The Boston Fleet underwent many changes during the offseason after barely missing the playoffs in the PWHL’s second season, and their upcoming season is set to be one with a new identity that includes a new head coach and a new captain.

Kris Sparre assumed coaching responsibilities for the Fleet in July after inaugural coach Courtney Kessel took over the helm of the Princeton women’s hockey program.

Sparre’s goals for the Fleet are to “embody the city that we are in, which is a tough, gritty style of play really through all professional sports.”

“The players feel that they want to be a very difficult team to play against as well, so when we’re aligned like that, it’s a good thing.”

Sparre’s squad opens its season at the Tsongas Center in Lowell on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Montreal.
