ROCKLAND, Maine — RSU 13 and law enforcement officials are investigating after a student was hit by a school bus Friday afternoon in Rockland.

The school district issued a news release stating that the student was struck by the bus at the intersection of Eliza Steele Drive and Broadway.

School officials said the student received "prompt medical attention" as soon as emergency first responders arrived at the scene, but they did not disclose any identifying information about the student or about the student's condition.

"The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority," the school said. "We are working closely with local law enforcement and emergency responders as they investigate the incident."
