Decorating for the holidays should be a joyful process, but it can also be pretty overwhelming! With so many options and styles of decor, it can be easy to lose your way or run out of steam. To help avoid seasonal decorating pitfalls, we spoke to Shea McGee of design firm Studio McGee in Salt Lake City about how to curate an indoor holiday display worth pining for. We also threw in a couple of our own suggestions based on years of decorating our own homes. Happy Holidays!
Yes, you’ll have to figure out where to store them during the off-season, but large items (like nutcrackers or fun trees) will anchor your display. Smaller pieces add dimension and detail. “Variety in size creates visual interest and makes the design feel intentional rather than cluttered,” McGee says.
